I have always had a feeling to be a priest since high school. I was told by a few people in my parish in Slinger, St. Peter, that I would make a great priest. I never really pursued that thought and instead went on to make a career in Desktop Support, which I did for 15 years. Then, the COVID-19 pandemic happened. Having churches closed and being denied the sacraments, especially the Eucharist, really hurt me spiritually. I started to think of what else God had in store for me and the thought and feeling of the priesthood came back into the forefront of my mind and I then pursued that calling.
I would say making that first contact with your local parish priest and/or the vocation director of the diocese. For me, it was the fear of rejection, what if they say no? Or, what if they say yes? However, you will never truly know if God is calling you until you make those first contacts outside of yourself. Take the leap and don’t worry what they will or will not say. If you follow what God is calling you to do nothing bad will come of it, only good.
Psalm 23, I get a sense of calmness when I read it. That even though evil and darkness may encompass me about at times, the Lord is always right there by my side to comfort and protect me.
I like to bike, play soccer and tennis. I also like to spend time with friends and family.
